An illustrated talk by Tudor Allen

George Bernard Shaw and Camden

Of all the many eminent men and women in the history of the area today known as Camden, few have been as closely associated with the area as the great Irish writer, George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950). In his long life, Shaw’s prodigious literary output included over sixty plays, among them the masterpieces Pygmalion, Man and Superman and Saint Joan; and in 1925 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. In this illustrated talk, Camden archivist Tudor Allen will explore Shaw’s many links with the locality.
